Ajmal Kasab gets what he gave

"You have been sentenced to death on four counts. You will be hanged by the neck till you are dead. Yeh hamara tareeka hai”
This was the final verdict given by judge M L Tahaliyani for 26/11 convict “Kasab”. Soon after this decision was made public or even before that, various debates were going not only in India but all around the world about what was the appropriate decision in this highly sensitive case. Right after it was announced that Kasab was found guilty mixed reactions poured in from different quarters . Ofcourse people across the border found it highly biased and totally unfair but what was a little surprising to see was the reaction of Indian public. There was a vast section of Indians who believed this decision was not correct , though they never questioned its fairness. Even the families of the many victims of 26/11 who were the worst hit in that tragic incident believed that giving death sentence to an individual will not serve any purpose. Hanging Kasab will not bring back their loved ones or lessen their pain by any degree.
Even I was against the fact that Kasab should be sentenced to death, not because of any kind of sympathy towards him or his deeds but I think he should not be allowed to die so easily. In my view he should have been kept alive under rigorous punishment so that he long for death every single moment of his stay here. Giving him death penalty though sound very terrifying but for the havoc caused by him and his fellows on that dreadful night , pain should not be so short lived. Realization of the wrong done by you is all what the motive behind giving any kind of punishment and realization of this magnitude needs time which death penalty doesn’t provide. Life long hard labored imprisonment would have most definitely provided him the opportunity to retrospect on his golden deed. Though surely it would have been a little problematic for our security system , as we have seen with the case of kandhar in the past but I don’t think a 22 year old fool would have been of any use to the militant groups across the border. In kandhar it was a different case ,as mazhoor azad or whatever the name was of that militant freed in exchange for IC 814 passenger ,as he was some sort of leader of their great and noble campaign. But Kasab was just a pawn and not even a single crease would have crossed the heads of those who lured him in doing what he did in the name of God and jehad and whatever. I just fail to understand how can anyone be so ignorant and risk everything on the word of few bunch of goons who have done nothing in their life apart from destroying others. They say God has given everyone equal mental capacity and conscious awareness but after seeing people like kasab falling again and again in that road of self destruction , I think man have made error in his analysis of man’s brain because these people don’t seem to have any of their own thoughts and understanding of the situation.
Its not about only kasab from Pakistan, we have many of our own breed of kasabs flourishing in every nook and corner. Previously I used to feel very angry whenever I came across any such great soul but now I feel sorry for them because in my view they are suffering from a deficiency and that deficiency is of common sense and the ability to separate right from wrong. God wasn’t kind enough towards them when it came to distribution of power to think. As they say -these people were the last in the queue when God was distributing brain and there also they were standing with a sieve with a big hole in it…
Coming back to kasab this episode I don’t think will get over by his hanging. But what message India have sent to their dear friend across the border with this decision. Whether this will serve as a lesson for them or will further motive them to carry forward the work of their great “Jehadi” leaders only time will tell…
